THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR
Starting with First Bull Run, or Manassas, and progressing through all the major land battles of the American Civil War, the games produced by AML follow, in many ways, the pattern laid down for Napoleonic war.
There is one difference.
Armaments.
Whilst in some armies in the Napoleonic period light troops were armed with muzzle loaded rifles and whilst, in the American Civil War, some smooth bore artillery was still used, breech loading rifles and rifled artillery were available to both sides in The ACW.
These innovations are introduced and with them the way in which infantry attacks and the use of both cavalry and artillery eventually changes across the battlefield.
